3/1/2024 0 Comments Instaling Graveyard KeeperIm telling you that I have done nothing to cause UnityPlayer to crash from one night to the next morning. Ive been in this industry enough that I know sometimes people say "nothing changed" and it did. I pay for malwarebytes, and I have a third party antivirus. Now, it is altogether possible that Windows 10 did some behind the scenes thing that might have affected something. But I am telling you, I have changed nothing on the system. I am also a professional in a corporate environment, and have been for the last 22 years. I appreciate the assistance and your highly detailed comment, ZLA. If you use SDI, download the Lite version, the tool will acquire whatever drvier files it needs when you run it, and you can tell it to only download drvier packages that apply to your computer.Īnd make sure you don't use DriverPackSolution, it comes with bundled malware! Most of these utilities have a built-in feature that does this for you at the click of a button. If you do use a driver installer/updater, make sure you create a System Restore Point. It's slightly less user friendly than the pay utilities, but beats them all hands down in capabilities (except Driver Genius which is about equal, but you have to pay for it). Fortunately you don't have to pay as SDI is a free, peer-reviewed utility and the author only asks for voluntary donations. Generic utilities evolved from these brand-specific ones, because people will pay for something so useful and time-saving. They all have driver update CDs from various sources, in my case I had Compaq, Dell, DEC, IBM, NEC and numerous other brand-specific drvier CDs. Professionals in corporate environments (where I worked for a long time) have a dirty little secret, however. If you've ever tried using Windows Update for third party drivers, you know it's a 50/50 shot you'll bork your entire computer and have to pay a fortune for a "professional" to clean it up. Normally I side with them, especially How-To-Geek which is an excellent site, but in this case the author of the article seems to have lost his mind be pimping the Microsoft party line, saying that only Windows Update should ever be trusted. Some advice sites tell you not to do this. (Note: Do not install video drivers with any of these programs, only use video driver installers from whatever company manufactured your GPU: Intel, AMD, Nvidia or Matrox!)Īnother thing I recommend when things aren't working is to exhaustively update all drivers (except video, see note added above) using a utility like Snappy Driver Installer. This probably won't work, because you said the game worked before, however it's worth trying if nothign else works, and even if it doesn't your compuer will be in bertter shape overall anyway: Of course the easiest thing you can do is run multiple scans for malware, using whatever you have on your computer or by going to one (or more) of the online scanners available, such as: I got a forced update jsut the other day, but fortunatley I haven't seen any side effects.Ĥ) Your computer caught a virus or got hit by some other sort of malware. This is Windows 10 after all, it's constantly changing stuff. It could be any number of things and might even be something you weren't aware would affect the game in any way.ģ) Windows did something. ![]() Updated a driver, changed a setting somewhere, installed a new game that made a change to DirectX (unlikely), something. This hasn't happened in the timeframe indicated, so it can't be the problem.Ģ) You did something. Okay, things just don't stop working for no reason, so one of several things happened:ġ) The game updated.
